First Tee Starting Chute Procedure

In the absence of a tee time booking system, the procedure for starting general play at Yelverton GC, extracted from Club Bye-Laws, is:

1. STARTING CHUTE

A ball may only be placed in the chute when all players of each game are on the tee and ready to play. If this procedure has been properly observed, players may use the putting green, practice area or indoor net, providing no delay in play results. If all players are not present to play, when due, their ball shall be placed last in the chute.”

‘In the car park’ is not on the tee.
Ready to play means exactly that - golf shoes on, with clubs/bag/trolley, etc.

Please respect other players by complying with this procedure.

On non-competitive Winter Saturdays the Paper Ball Chute procedure applies.

Tees of the Day

Yellow for Gents, Red for Ladies and Blue for Academy players.  White tees are for competition use, and, by exception, taking account of other players, how busy the Course is and pace of play, White Tees may be used for General Play during British Summer Time, with the express permission of the Secretary / Pro Shop, on a case-by-case basis.

Paper Ball Chute Non Competitive Winter Saturdays - Process and Rules

Times of Operation:  To ensure smooth running of the 1st tee, on non-competitive Saturdays from 1st Nov 2016 through to March 18th 2017, a Starter will be present in the hut at the 1st Tee from 7.00 a.m. until 12.00 p.m. or until such a time when the tee is quiet.

Paper Ball Chute Rules: All players of each game shall be present at the time of booking.  They may then use the Putting Green, Practice Area, Indoor Net or Clubhouse, providing no delay in play results.

If all players are not present to play, when due, they shall be placed last on the list.
4 balls will be the preferred grouping of play.

Starters have the authority to encourage smaller groups to make up 4s and, where appropriate, to allow a combination of booked in players within “Roll-ups”.

  • They will check for Guests/Visitors tickets.
  • They will check that trolleys meet the rules appropriate to the conditions and confirm any exemptions.
  • They will settle any disputes about order of play.
Winter competitive matches have no precedence on the 1st tee and thereafter, normal pace of play etiquette and courtesies apply.
