Reminder to Members about Recording of scores in Non-Qualifying Competitions Away from the players home clubs

Handicaps & Competitions Notice No. 23

Recording of scores in Non-Qualifying Competitions Away from the players home clubs

Following a number of incidents in Open competitions in the last few years, England Golf
have firmed up their policy in this area and are directing that players return all scores in competitive golf in Non-Qualifying Competitions Away from their Home clubs.

A copy of the full England Golf instruction can be downloaded here (PDF 250KB) pdf logo transparent 150x150 11

and a Q&A about it is here (PDF 415KB). pdf logo transparent 150x150 11

England Golf have made this decision in order to promote the integrity of the Handicapping system, and maintain player confidence in it.

Individual scores or Team results must be returned in all Singles, Am-Am and 4BBB with the exception of Texas Scrambles, Foursomes and Greensomes competitions, or casual social rounds.

To assist with the return of scores at Yelverton, a ring binder containing Non-Qualifying Scores Return Forms will be placed in both the Mens and Ladies Changing Rooms, for Players to record their scores. We are also currently exploring an on line recording facility and will let you know when that is available.

In addition, Clubs running Open competitions are being encouraged to return the scores of the top 5 places to the player’s or team’s home club and a pro forma has been designed that a club can complete and return.

Please note these scores do not directly affect a player’s handicap, but should be used as ‘supporting evidence’ of performance when it comes to either an Annual Handicap Review or General Play adjustment.
